Performance Consulting as Learning Professionals In this highly interactive, case-based session, you will explore what it means to add the skill of performance consultant to your role. The session is built around a challenging performance analysis project and complements the Assessing Performance Needs category of the CSTD Competencies for Training and Development Professionals©. You’ll explore the consulting skills required to have comprehensive client conversations when preparing to assess, determining causes of performance gaps, and identifying solutions for closing gaps.

  • Manage client expectations and gain agreement when preparing to assess performance.
  • Explore the causes of performance gaps on the job, at both the process and organization levels.
  • Anticipate and prepare for client concerns regarding analysis results and recommendations.
  • Discuss ethical considerations when assessing performance needs and proposing recommendations.

Nick Chambers is a partner, performance consultant, and senior instructional NickChambers designer with Benchmark Performance Inc. Nick leads projects for a wide array of clients, addressing a broad range of organization issues. Nick is on the board of directors of the Ontario Trillium Foundation and was previously a director and president on the board of the Canadian Club of Toronto.


Hannah Brown, M.Ed, CTDP is a senior instructional designer and consultant with Benchmark PerformanceHannahBrown_C__Sm. In addition to her seven years with Benchmark, Hannah spent several years as the Director, Learning &Development for North American sales at a life insurance company.  Hannah volunteers with Leadership Waterloo Region and is actively involved in her local Chapter of the Canadian Society of Training and Development (CSTD).
